Maura Doran - Thank You

Maura Doran – Thank You

As announced at Masses last weekend, Maura Doran, our Sacristan for over sixteen years has retired. Maura in carrying out her duties has been animated by a strong Faith and a great love of the service of the Lord and His Blessed Mother and of the Parish of Christ the King. Maura dealt with all the various queries of parishioners and arrangements for masses and other celebrations with great courtesy and created a welcoming atmosphere in the parish. Apart from her duties as Sacristan Maura gave voluntarily of her time to many aspects of parish life and parish committees. Many will remember her great skill at getting people to help and will recall ‘the tap on the shoulder’ inviting them to assist in some area of parish ministry and also remember her impeccable appearance at all times. Fr. Tom, Fr. Pat and Suzanne Moore, the Parish Secretary have always appreciated her great personal kindness and understanding, as indeed have the Priests and Parish Sisters who ministered here over the years. Maura’s hospitality to all was legendary and visiting priests always spoke of the great welcome they received in Cabra. The celebration of the major Feasts of our Lord and our Blessed Lady was always of great importance to Maura and in a special way the Feast of Christ the King. We are also very grateful to Maura for coordinating all the arrangements for the parish pilgrimage to Lourdes. The Parish Pastoral Council join with the Priests, Parish Sisters and parishioners in thanking Maura and in wishing her every health and God’s Blessing in her retirement and are grateful that she will still be very much part of our parish community, and that we will be able to avail of her advice and help in the life of the parish. There will be an opportunity for the parishioners to say their special thanks to Maura in the coming weeks.
