Sr. Margaret Mary Months Mind

A months memory mass for Sr. Margaret Mary who was parish sister in our parish of Christ the King, Cabra for 27 years and who died in Glasgow recently will be celebrated at 10:30am next Sunday 15th February, 2015 in the Church of Christ the King, Cabra.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent.  The ashes are an acient symbol of repentance.  Without the mercy of God who lifts us up, because he loves us, we are like the ashes.  They are an outward sign of our desire to "turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel".

Masses will be celebrated in Christ the King Parish, Cabra at 10am and 7pm.  Blessed ashes will be distributed after the Masses.

During the moring (9am - 12:30am), blessed ashes will be available for collection to bring to those who are unable to come to the Church.

Death of Sr. Margaret

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sr. Margaret who died in the Franciscan Sisters Convent in Glasgow in the early hours of Thursday 8th January.

Sr. Margaret was a parish sister in our parish of Christ the King, Cabra for 27 years right up to her retirement last year.  She loved the parishioners of Cabra and they loved her in return.  Since her retirement parishioners have constantly enquired about Sr. Margaret and mentioned how kindly she was to everyone and particularly the sick and housebound.  Her smile radiated an inner peace and closeness to the Lord.

We extend our very sincere sympathies to the Franciscan Sisters here in Cabra, Sr. Barbara, Sr. Sarah and Sr. Mary on their sad loss and also to Mother General and to all the Franciscan Sisters Minoress. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

May her gentle soul rest in the peace of the risen Lord, her work well done.
