Good News!

Our Parish is now on FACEBBOOK.

This app has proven to be a vital tool for communication during these times of physical distance and self isolation. As the days progress our Parish Facebook page will have prayer and spiritual initiatives for you to avail of. Starting tomorrow Fr Pat will be live on our FACEBOOK page praying, at the same time as the Irish Bishops and Pope Francis, to consecrate Ireland to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and later tomorrow evening Kevin will host night prayer at 8pm.

These two ceremonys will be recorded live on the FACEBOOK page but will also then be stored so that we can access them whenever we want.

If you already have a FACEBOOK account just search for Church of Christ the King Cabra and become friends.

If not why not take a few minutes to set up a FACEBOOK page and see how it can add to your spiritual and prayer life. Stay safe and God bless.

Spiritual Communion

Dear Lord I am unable to receive you sacramentally today. Come spiritually into my heart as I embrace you as being already there. I place all my trust in you and never let me be separated from you again.  Amen.

ACT OF CONSECRATION OF IRELAND TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY FOR PROTECTION FROM THE CORONAVIRUS

Pope Francis yesterday called for all Christians to respond to the coronavirus pandemic “with the universality of prayer, of compassion, of tenderness”, adding, “Let us remain united. Let us make our closeness felt toward those persons who are the most lonely and tried”.

Speaking after the traditional recitation of the Angelus, the Holy Father called on all Christians to join together in prayer. “In these trying days, while humanity trembles due to the thread of the pandemic, I would like to propose to all Christians that together we lift our voices towards Heaven,” he said.

The Pope also announced that on Friday, 27 March, he will preside over a moment of prayer on the sagrato of St Peter’s Basilica, the platform at the top of the steps immediately in front of the façade of the Church. “I invite everyone to participate spiritually through the means of communication”, he said.

The ceremony will consist in readings from the Scriptures, prayers of supplication, and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament; and will conclude with Pope Francis giving the Urbi et orbi Blessing, with the possibility of gaining a plenary indulgence for all those who listen to it live through the various forms of communication. The blessing “to the City [of Rome] and to the World” is normally only given on Christmas and Easter.

The Director of the Holy See Press Office confirmed that the moment of prayer on Friday will be broadcast live from the Vatican, beginning at 6 pm Rome time. He noted that the plenary indulgence attached to the Urbi et orbi blessing is subject to the conditions foreseen by the recent Decree of the Apostolic Penitentiary.

Ongoing Response to the Current Health Care Situation

At a meeting today (March 16th) of the priests and deacons in the Bradogue Cluster comprising of Our Lady of Christians, Navan Rd, Precious Blood, Cabra West, Christ the King, Cabra and St. Peter’s Church, Phibsborough, it was decided, with regret, to suspend all public Masses in the cluster from Wednesday 18th March except for funerals.

This decision covers Sundays and weekdays. The priests will continue to offer daily Mass privately.

The Churches of the cluster will remain open for private prayer and devotion.  The Church of Christ the King will be open from 9am to 12noon each day.  As a community of faith, we need to take care of ourselves.  We must take care of each others wellbeing.  We must take care not to spread the virus.

Let us keep in our prayers all those who are ill and those who lost their jobs in recent days.  www.hse.ie/coronavirus/

Mass can be viewed daily on the EWTN television channel.
