Parish Groups
The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body of parishioners who work with the priests in planning the pastoral needs of the
Parish. As we follow the Diocesan Pastoral Plan for Renewal of the Church in the Dublin Diocese, Building Hope, the Parish Pastoral
Council uses the Pastoral Strategic Planning Resource 2025-2027, to inform the agenda and work of their meetings.
Since September 2024, the two Parish Pastoral Councils of Cabra and Cabra West have come together as one Pastoral Council to serve the needs of both Parishes as we draw closer together.
The rotating Chairpersons are Mary Kelly and Eilís McCarthy. The Pastoral Council meets eight times a year and publishes an agreed report in both newsletters.
Our Pastoral Council has nominated members who are part of the Partnership Pastoral Council with Phibsboro and Navan Road. In the Building Hope framework, the whole Diocese has been formed into 53 partnerships, to work together to ensure the mission of the Church is alive and developing in every area.

The role of the Parish Finance Committee is to advise and have oversight of the Parish Finances with the Parish Priest. They meet 8 times a year and provide an annual report to the Parishioners. They sign off on the annual audit and watch over the income and expenditure.
The Chairperson of Christ the King Finance Committee is Robert Doran. The Chairperson of Precious Blood Finance Committee is John Coffey.
A member of the Parish Finance Committee is part of the Partnership Finance Group with members from Navan Road and Phibsboro.
How collections are used:
There are two collections at Mass:
The First Collection: together with the Christmas, Easter and Summer Dues is for the support of the Priests of the Parish and the sick and retired Priests of the Diocese.
The Second ‘Share’ Collection’: is to support other Parishes and to support Diocesan Central Service which give support and advice to all Parishes including our own.
The Family Offering Collection:
This is to look after the costs of running the Parish, such as heating, insurance, paying secretaries and sacristans.

- We also benefit from the Tax Relief Scheme. Anyone who makes an offering of €250 or more and completes the CHY form can be part of a tax refund to the Parish. Your support is greatly appreciated. If you would like to receive weekly envelopes, please contact the parish office.
The baptism team helps prepare families for the baptism of their child.
The purpose of this beautiful ministry is to journey with parents on the meaning and significance of the Sacrament of Baptism and how important it is for parents and families to engage with and pass on the gift of faith to their children.
The meetings are informal and have been taking place in the Church and usually lasting an hour. Parents are welcomed by the team members and the meeting covers the format of the Sacrament and the rich symbolism that it contains. The meeting opens and closes with a prayer. The team members who gave the course are also in attendance at the Baptismal ceremony. They are there as representatives of the community into which the child is being Baptised and also help to ensure the smooth running of the ceremony. It is a real pleasure to be with you as you embark on your Sacramental Journey with your children and remember the Faith Community is always there with you on this journey.
There is a Folk Group in Christ the King at the Saturday Vigil at 5:30pm.
We have a choir that leads the music at the 10:30am in Christ the King and 11:30am in Most Precious Blood.
A cantor leads the congregation to sing at the 12:00 noon Mass in Christ the King.
We provide hymn books for our weekday and weekend Masses and encourage you to pick one up as you come in to the Church and join in the singing. Please remember to put it back in the box on your way out the door.
Society of St. Vincent de Paul
The St. Vincent de Paul help families and individuals in times of need. It is supported by the monthly church gate collection and the Christmas Appeal in both Churches. There is a conference in Cabra and Cabra West who respond to the requests made through SVP headquarters. The Rosary Group are a vital ministry in the Parish, they offer the Rosary of Our Blessed lady every day, as we have been asked by Our Blessed Mother. As they pray they offer up the prayer for all the needs and intentions of our Parish and the world.
These mysteries of the Rosary represent the significant events in the life of Jesus Christ. The rosary is often used as a guide for other Catholic prayers. These prayers are related to challenges or celebrations in the life of one praying the rosary or on behalf of another for whom the prayers are said.
They pray the Rosary after the morning Mass every day.
The Legion of Mary
A Catholic lay organisation. The members participate in the life of the parish through visitation of families, the sick, both in their homes and in hospitals and through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish.
Funeral Team
They help families to prepare the Funeral Mass or Prayer Service.
Sacramental Preparation Team
Co-ordinate the ‘Do This In Memory’ & ‘Confirmation Connects’ programmes and the celebration of the Masses for Holy Communion for the first time and Confirmation

Child Safeguarding
Each Parish has a Parish Rep whose role is to ensure that the highest standards of care are in place for the children participating in Parish activities, in line with our Diocesan Safeguarding Policy.

Share the Word of God at the daily and Sunday Masses
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Share the Eucharist at the daily and Sunday Masses and by request through the Parish Office, bring Holy Communion to the housebound.
Bio-diversity and Environmental Group
Conscious of the changing climate and our duty to care for the earth, this group looks at how we use our Church grounds to create a healthy environment that promotes bio-diversity.
Sanctuary Flowers
We have a dedicated person in each Church who looks after the flowers on the Sanctuary and decorates the Church for the liturgical seasons.
Cleaners and Groundskeepers
Our Churches always look well inside and outside, thanks the to teams who clean, tidy, plant and keep an eye on things.
Hospitality Group
A number of times during the year we have special occasions. After these celebrations our hospitality team organises refreshments to give people time to meet, catch up and have a chat.
Volunteering
The need for voluntary ministry in the Church, especially in the parish, has always been there. All the baptised are called to active participation and to share in the ministry of Jesus Christ. Some choose to respond to this call by taking on a particular ministry in the parish.
Often, when we think of voluntary ministries in parish, it is the liturgical ministries that come to mind. This might be because of their visibility whenever the parish community gathers together for liturgy and prayer. However, there are many different types of ministry needed in parish.
The different parish ministries are connected and complementary especially when they work together in partnership, with the Parish Team, to ensure that the pastoral, faith development, sacramental and liturgical needs of the parish
mission are responded to.
Pilgrimage to Knock and Lourdes
There is an annual pilgrimage to Knock and to Lourdes from our parishes. If you would like to come, please contact the parish office for more details.
